MUSE - Cincinnati's Women's Choir, the Women’s Chorus of Bowling Green State University, and Indian Hill High School Women's Choir will commemorate 100 years of International Women's Day, on Sunday, March 8, at 3:00 pm. “35 years ago I founded my first women's choir in Madison, Wisconsin to bring attention to the "slighted sonorities of the all-female chorus." It is important to promote commissions of substantive choral repertoire for women's choirs. There has been real change over the last several decades. Come experience three dynamic, diverse women's choirs, directed by three experienced women directors”, says Dr. Catherine Roma, Artistic Director of MUSE.

This concert will feature sets by each individual chorus and two pieces performed by all three choirs. Says Deb Centers, of Indian Hill High School:
"I am so thrilled to have the IHHS Women's Chorus join MUSE and the Bowling Green State University Women's Chorus. We have never performed with another women's group, so we are all looking forward to the experience. I am especially excited because I have former high school students singing in MUSE. The whole collaboration will be fun!"

This unique, multi-generational performance will celebrate the voices of women and annually on March 8th, thousands of events are held throughout the world to inspire women and celebrate achievements. A global web of rich and diverse local activity connects women from all around the world and will here in Cincinnati. “The women of the BGSU Women’s Chorus are eager to connect with our singing sisters in Ohio! We look forward to musically celebrating with them and audience members, the strength, character and spirit of womankind through the world."
-Dr. Sandra Stegman, Conductor of the BGSU Women’s Chorus.

The IHHS Women’s Chorus is offered to 9th through 12th grade girls, but consists of mostly freshmen and sophomores. The girls learn a variety of choral styles during the year including classical, world music, musical theatre, and pop. An emphasis is placed upon the development of the vocal instrument and music reading. Besides their normal school concerts and other concerts in the Cincinnati area, the girls perform for the Ohio Music Educators Association Competition where they have received several superior ratings.

MUSE is a women's choir dedicated to musical excellence and social change. In keeping with our belief that diversity is strength, we are feminist women of varied ages, races, and ethnicities with a range of musical abilities, political interests, and life experiences.

We are women loving women; we are heterosexual, lesbian and bisexual women united in song. We commission and seek out music composed by women, pieces written to enhance the sound of
women's voices, and songs that honor the enduring spirit of all peoples. In performing, we strive for a concert experience that entertains, inspires, motivates, heals, and creates a feeling of community with our audience.
